Lazy G Ranch

Lazy G Ranch, run by Glenn Chapman in Vale, Oregon, has focused on lowline cattle — also known as American Aberdeen — since first getting acquainted with the breed in 2001 and acquiring its foundation animals in 2002. Vale sits in the high desert of eastern Oregon, roughly 60 miles southeast of Ontario, near the Idaho border.

The ranch holds one of the longer tenures in the American Lowline Registry, joining with member number 236 in late 2002 or early 2003, making it among the earliest registered operations in the country. Chapman played an active role in shaping the registry itself, advocating for the online herdbook and pushing for the formal recognition of red fullblood lowlines.

Lazy G Ranch was the first operation to register red fullblood lowlines with the American Lowline Registry, and it maintains what it describes as the foundation herd of red lowlines in the United States. The program also imported cattle directly from Australia in 2007 — among the first such imports since the breed's original introduction to the country — sourcing animals from the Top of the Range Stud to broaden the genetic base. Both red and black fullblood lowlines for sale in Oregon have been bred here across multiple generations, with a particular emphasis on marbling genetics within the herd.
