La Petite Miniature Cattle
La Petite Miniature Cattle raises Scottish Highland, High Park and belted Galloway miniature cattle in Imperial, NE, in Chase County and southwest Nebraska's High Plains near North Platte. The business began breeding mini cattle in 2015 to add to the miniature animals in its petting zoo. Interest in the herd grew, and breeding cattle became a business of its own.
The farm and ranch focuses on long-haired mini cattle. Calves weigh about 20 to 50 pounds at birth. Grown cattle stand between 36 and 47 inches tall, depending on genetics. Calves come in several colors, including red and dun with tipped coats, and both steers and heifers are offered. La Petite Miniature Cattle raises its miniature cattle as pets for families.
Cattle in general do well with steady access to forage, fresh water, room to move and regular attention from their keepers. In open country like the Imperial area, the herd lives among the ranches and wide pastures that are common across this corner of NE.
