La Loma Farm

La Loma Farm raises ayam cemani in San German, Puerto Rico, in western Puerto Rico near Mayagüez. It has focused on careful breeding for over 15 years, following American Poultry Association standards and regular vet health screenings. Founder Milton E Martinez established the farm on ancestral land that once hosted small backyard flocks, carrying forward a multi-generational commitment to poultry stewardship. The farm is registered under the National Poultry Improvement Plan to uphold disease prevention and transparent record keeping.

Birds are reared in open-air pens with daily supervised range time, shaded roosting areas and early-life exposure to calm handling sessions. Its flock includes bloodlines imported to preserve the deep jet-black plumage, robust bone structure and mild demeanor valued by small-scale growers. Flock rotation and a diet of locally milled grains mixed with occasional garden forage ensure varied nutrition and strong immune health. Each bird benefits from attentive husbandry and social enrichment aimed at reducing stress and promoting natural behaviors.
