Kooiker's Pets

Kooiker's Pets, run by Bev Kooiker, raises bichon frises, miniature dachshunds, shih tzus, and West Highland white terriers on a farm in Boyden, Iowa, in the northwest corner of the state near Sioux City. The program has been active for over 39 years, making it one of the longer-standing small-breed operations in the region.

Parent selection focuses on conformation, health, and temperament, and the farm owns all sires and dams used in its litters. DNA health testing is part of the process for select breeding dogs. Each puppy receives age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a health examination by a veterinarian before going home, along with a starter supply of food and a basic introduction to potty training.
