Kiva De Chaco's Fainting Goats
Kiva de Chaco's Fainting Goats raises myotonic (fainting) goats in Desert Hills, Arizona, a small rural community north of Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert. Owner Debbie McQueen built the herd from the ground up, sourcing foundation animals from breeders across the country whose herds had tested negative for CL, CAE, and Johne's Disease.
The program is registered with both the Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR) and the Mini Silky Fainting Goat Association (MSFGA), and the herd has been tested for CL, CAE, Johne's, and Brucella, with all results coming back negative. Does are bred every other year with limited exceptions, and animals with teat spurs or other structural defects are not used in the breeding program. Each foundation goat was individually selected for specific desirable traits and must meet breeding quality or better standards.
The farm's name carries personal meaning: "Kiva" is Hopi for "womb of the earth," and "de Chaco" honors Chaco Louise, a Catahoula Leopard Hound mix who served as Debbie's herding partner while the farm was being established. Anyone looking for fainting goats for sale in Arizona will find a program where structural correctness and herd health have been central priorities from the start.
