Kissing Cousins Alpaca Farm ~ Since 1997

Kissing Cousins Alpaca Farm has been raising huacaya alpacas in Chehalis, Washington since 1997, making it one of the longer-running alpaca programs in southwestern Washington, about an hour south of Olympia. Laura Braun owns and operates the farm, which holds memberships in the Alpaca Association of Western Washington and the Columbia Alpaca Breeders Association.

Breeding selection at the farm centers on health, soundness, efficient reproduction, and fleece quality — specifically soft, silky huacaya fiber with minimal guard hair, high-frequency crimp, brightness, and length. The herd's foundation matriarch, Trufflina, a daughter of Alianza import P. Andrajo, produced thirteen crias and earned a first-place fleece placement over a Futurity champion. Her son Constantino, named a "future of the industry" champion, placed competitively in the ribbons for five consecutive years, and his offspring have gone on to earn judge's choice fleece awards for their sixth and seventh fleeces at other farms.

Beyond alpaca breeding, the farm offers educational tours, alpaca treks, and fiber products made from herd fleeces, including yarn and raw fleece in a range of natural colors.
