Kickin' Back Alpaca Ranch

Kickin' Back Alpaca Ranch raises huacaya alpacas in Markdale, Ontario, a rural community in Grey County roughly an hour and a half north of Toronto. Doug and Carolyn Lilleyman run the operation with a particular focus on grey alpacas, working to breed for fineness, density, crimp, and correct conformation across each successive generation.

The ranch functions as a full-service alpaca farm, offering breeding stock, fibre alpacas, and stud services from its top herdsires. One of those herdsires, Elvis, earned first place in his class and the Overall Winner title in the Grey Colour class with a score of 98 out of 100. Most animals on the property carry dual registration through both the Canadian Llama and Alpaca Association (CLAA) and the Alpaca Owners Association (ARI). The Lilleymans are also members of Alpaca Ontario, Alpaca Canada, and Upper Canada Fibreshed.

Husbandry at the ranch is hands-on: alpacas are fed and checked at least twice daily, brought into the barn at each feeding for observation, and pastures and barns are cleaned every day. All alpacas are halter trained.
