Kayla Simpson

Kayla Simpson started Dixie Dairy Nigerians in Mississippi around 2011, when a family need for goat milk led to the farm's first Nigerian dwarf doe and a lasting commitment to dairy goats.

Based in Tate County, roughly 45 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee, the farm raises ADGA- and AGS-registered Nigerian dwarf goats alongside alpines and a growing line of mini alpines — a crossbreeding project now several generations deep. Dairy crosses for sale in Mississippi draw from this multi-breed herd, which also includes LaMancha, mini LaMancha, and mini Nubian lines.

The herd is an ADGA Plus herd, and disease testing is a consistent part of farm management. All goats are tested yearly for CAE at minimum, and any animal entering the herd is screened for CAE, CL, Johnes, Brucellosis, and Q fever. The farm both dam-raises and bottle-raises kids, and all does are milked at least once daily. Animals are kept as pets first, with family members — including children active in Tate County 4H and Independence FFA — involved in daily care and socialization.
