Karr Farms

Karr Farms raises purebred red Angus cattle in Pomeroy, Ohio, in the heart of Meigs County along the Ohio River in the southeastern part of the state, roughly an hour south of Athens.

Tom Karr has been in the cattle business for over 40 years, and the farm ranks among the first purebred red Angus operations in Ohio, having transitioned from a Polled Hereford herd when Tom made the deliberate shift to focus entirely on the red Angus breed. The operation has grown substantially since then, with a herd of approximately 175 brood cows producing bulls and heifers marketed to producers across the country.

The farm spans 1,800 acres in Meigs County, where Karr also grows corn, soybeans, and hay to support the operation. That scale of integrated crop and cattle production reflects a self-sufficient approach to raising red Angus seedstock in Ohio. Tom Karr was recognized as Seedstock Producer of the Year by the Ohio Cattlemen's Association, a distinction that points to the farm's standing within the state's beef cattle community.
