Red Rooster Ranch raises Nigerian dwarf dairy goats in Southern California, about 40 minutes north of Los Angeles. Isobel Schuhler runs the family farm with a holistic approach to animal husbandry, selecting breeding stock carefully for temperament, conformation, and milking standards.

The herd has been developed over more than 16 years and draws on genetics from show-quality and milk-production lines. Breeding does and bucks are chosen for the best available gene combinations, with particular attention given to the polled gene, which allows kids to naturally grow without horns. Blue-eyed and flashy coloring are also traits the program actively pursues.

All adult goats at Red Rooster Ranch are tested and found negative for Johne's, CAE, and CL. Kids are raised using a dam-bottle system designed to produce friendly, healthy animals that are also bottle-proficient. The farm also maintains a mentorship program for buyers new to goat keeping. Retired does are rehomed thoughtfully, always paired with a familiar companion to ease the transition.
