Immer Essen Farm
Immer Essen Farm in Athens, Tennessee has focused on lagotto Romagnolo and Pembroke Welsh corgi breeding for around 25 years, making it one of the longer-running sources for these breeds in the southeastern United States. The farm sits in McMinn County, roughly an hour north of Chattanooga in the Tennessee Valley.
The lagotto Romagnolo program grew directly from the farm's land: several acres have been planted in truffle trees, giving the breed a working context rooted in the property itself. Lagotto Romagnoli produced at Immer Essen have received CHIC certifications, and the farm has noted that adults hold OFA hip certifications as well.
The Pembroke Welsh corgi side of the program draws on champion lines and holds health testing to a high standard. Corgis are cleared for von Willebrand disease, evaluated for eye health, DNA-tested for degenerative myelopathy risk, and screened for exercise-induced collapse — with the stated goal of producing only puppies not at risk for DM or EIC. OFA hip certification is used across the corgi program. Puppies are born inside the home, socialized in family living spaces, introduced to outdoor routines before weaning is complete, and crate-trained starting at six weeks. Multiple generations of adults, including parents and often grandparents, live on the property.
