Hueftle Cattle Company raises Red Angus cattle south of Cozad, Nebraska, a small city in the Platte River valley roughly an hour west of Grand Island. The operation is run by Neil and Anita Hueftle, whose family's connection to Red Angus reaches back to 1970, when Neil's father Karl purchased his first Red Angus bull and began shifting the herd away from Herefords.

Karl and Neil built the cow herd together over the decades, and their program gained wider recognition through a cooperative relationship with Leachman Cattle Company in the late 1980s. During that affiliation they produced a number of well-regarded herd sires, including bulls marketed under names like Above and Beyond and Gravity. Neil and Anita formally launched the HXC brand in 2004, directing their focus toward an annual production sale.

The program operates as a registered Red Angus cow-calf operation, with selection aimed at genetics that perform across multiple traits relevant to both registered and commercial producers. Long-time herdsman Kim Lehmann has been part of the operation since 1983 and markets bulls from his own KJL-prefix herd alongside HXC offerings at the annual sale.
