Hoot'N Hollar Highlands

Hoot'N Hollar Highlands, Scottish Highland cattle, Clever, MO, is located in Christian County and the Springfield area. The farm has bred these gentle cattle for more than 15 years with membership in the American Highland Cattle Association and routine health screening for common conditions. Its herd grazes on rotational pastures managed to support forage diversity and soil health. Calves are raised in small family groups and handled daily to encourage calm temperaments around visitors.

The operation began on a restored homestead where old barns have been repurposed for sheltered loafing and newborn care. Robert Hicker and Denise Hicker draw on generational farming knowledge to sustain a herd suited to both pasture landscapes and small homesteads. Ample clean water is available from on-site wells and drinkers are checked daily to ensure hydration needs are met. Seasonal shelter includes windbreaks of cedars planted along fencelines and an insulated barn for colder months.
