Henry's Maltese

Henry's Maltese, run by Patrick Henry, raises Maltese puppies on a farm in Tama, Iowa, in the heart of central Iowa roughly an hour northeast of Des Moines. The program keeps a small number of adult Maltese, which allows Patrick to give individual attention to each mother, including being present throughout the birthing process and using an incubator to help newborns clear their lungs in the critical first minutes of life.

Puppies leave with their vaccinations and dewormings already completed, and the adults in the program draw from champion bloodlines. Henry's Maltese also produces morkies — a cross between a purebred registered Maltese female and a purebred registered Yorkshire terrier male — giving families looking for Maltese puppies in Iowa a small-breed option in two distinct coat patterns. Puppies are photographed regularly from around two weeks old through placement, so prospective families can follow each litter's development.
