Happy Hounds Alpaca Ranch
Happy Hounds Alpaca Ranch raises huacaya alpacas on a sprawling property in Sisters, Oregon, in the heart of Central Oregon near Bend. Laurie McCallum and her co-owner started the program in 2010 on a small ranch in eastern Colorado before relocating in 2013 to a 480-acre property that includes 360 acres of irrigated hay and pasture ground.
The ranch's breeding focus centers on pairing elite dams with herdsires that combine strong phenotype and impressive fleece qualities. The herd includes animals from some of the most decorated lines in the U.S. alpaca industry, among them Snowmass Velvet Touche, .38's Totem NS, and Majestic Meadows Awethum — a collective that has earned dozens of championship and judge's choice titles at national shows. The ranch raises alpacas of all colors, with an overarching goal of sourcing the strongest available U.S. genetics to strengthen the national breeding pool.
Nutrition is treated as a core part of the program, with an emphasis on high-quality feed to support healthy animals that carry their fiber traits well. The property is also home to horses, goats, chickens, ducks, and other animals. Those interested in huacaya alpacas for sale in Oregon will find a herd built around show-proven bloodlines and a structured approach to genetic selection.
