Hairy Cow Farm

Hairy Cow Farm raises registered and purebred Highland cattle in Crane, Missouri, tucked into the Ozark hill country of southwest Missouri, about 40 minutes south of Springfield. Jerry Delcour and Janet Melton started the operation on a modest 10 acres before relocating and building out a 35-acre property from the ground up, including new fencing and farm buildings.

The herd has room to roam the rolling hills, cool off in a pond, and rest in the tree shade — conditions the highlands took to from their first day on the property. The farm initially raised chickens alongside the cattle before choosing to concentrate fully on beef production.
