Carol and James Ptak established the operation in Arizona in 2014, relocating their breeding stock from Washington state to the remote canyon country of Gila County.

All breeding stock is registered with the American Highland Cattle Association and is DNA tested and parent verified. The herd is raised without antibiotics, corn, GMOs, or growth hormones, grazing on natural mountain forage supplemented with alfalfa hay and fresh spring water. The ranch holds certification through the American Grassfed Association and has participated in the Certified Humane Raised and Handled program, reflecting a consistent focus on animal welfare standards.

Carol and James personally handle the herd twice daily, and the ranch is run as a true family operation with no hired hands.
