Goldkress Shibas

Goldkress Shibas, run by Lonita Kress out of Lawrence, Kansas, has been breeding and showing Shiba inus since 2004. The kennel sits about 40 miles west of Kansas City, making it a reasonable destination for families across northeastern Kansas and the greater Kansas City metro looking for Shiba inu puppies in Kansas.

The program focuses exclusively on Shiba inus, with all dogs carrying AKC-registered champion bloodlines. Lonita selects for correct breed type alongside outgoing, affectionate temperaments, and the kennel does not produce designer or hybrid dogs. Health testing is a consistent part of the program, with dogs screened for hip, patella, and eye certifications.

Puppies are whelped inside the home and remain indoors through the first six weeks of life. After that, they transition to an outside setup with a doggie door so they can move freely between indoors and outdoors, a routine that typically results in pups that arrive at their new homes already familiar with house manners. Adults are housed in large outdoor pens rather than crates or concrete runs, giving them room to move and spend time outside. Each puppy leaves with current vaccinations, worming records, and a one-year genetic guarantee.
