Gleann Brook Acres

Gleann Brook Acres raises registered Scottish Highland cattle in Bremen, Alabama, situated in the rolling hills of Cullman County about 45 miles north of Birmingham. Tracey Kerbler and Stéphane Goyer established the farm as a family operation in 2006, drawing on Tracey's academic background — a Bachelor's in Agriculture and a Master's in reproductive physiology from the University of Guelph — and a network of respected Highland breeders across the Northeast.

The fold's foundation heifers came from Cube Mountain Highlands in New Hampshire, Black Watch Farm in Vermont, and Locustbrae Farm in New York, with early guidance from veteran breeders in Quebec. The farm grew from a starting herd of 16 heifers and one bull to more than 80 head over the years, and today operates entirely as a calving operation with Gleann Brook cattle represented in more than 15 states.

Cattle at Gleann Brook Acres are raised on open Alabama pasture without hormones or antibiotics, a husbandry approach the owners describe as letting nature lead. The farm worked with Auburn University when adapting the breed to the southern climate, sourcing young stock and allowing the animals to acclimate gradually — a strategy that proved successful for highland cattle for sale in Alabama.
