Gale Rivers. Gayels
Gayels, operated by Gale Rivers in Poulsbo, Washington, has been breeding toy dogs since the early 1960s, when the kennel took shape around Gale's first show miniature poodle. The name GayEls was chosen with the help of a mentor and draws from Gale's maiden name and that founding show dog. Poulsbo sits on the Kitsap Peninsula, roughly 15 miles northwest of Bremerton and within easy reach of the greater Seattle area.
The program centers on toy and miniature poodles, with Japanese chin and Pomeranians also part of the breeding roster. Puppies leave with current vaccinations, worming, and a puppy essentials kit that includes food, detailed care records, and ongoing breeder support. The kennel operates as a licensed and inspected facility. AKC-registered poodle puppies in Washington from a program with this depth of history are relatively uncommon, and GayEls represents one of the longer-running examples in the Pacific Northwest.
Show dogs have been part of the program throughout its history, with champion-sired litters produced across multiple breeds. Gale has been involved in conformation competition as both breeder and owner-handler, with dogs carrying the GayEls name appearing in AKC show records.
