Frosty Ridge Alpacas
Frosty Ridge Alpacas raises huacaya alpacas on a small farm about 12 miles from downtown Duluth, Minnesota, near the southern shore of Lake Superior. Loni Blumerich and her husband Horst started the operation after attending their first alpaca show in 2003, and the farm received its founding herd — two bred females and four geldings — in 2007.
The program has stayed deliberately small, with a focus on breeding healthy, quality animals rather than scaling up. That commitment to quality showed early: their first champion, El Bien Santiago, a son of Invincible's Brookhollow Superstar and grandson of Snowmass Invincible, was born in 2011 and took first place at three consecutive shows in 2012, earning a Reserve Champion and Color Champion title along the way.
For those searching for alpacas for sale in Minnesota, Frosty Ridge represents a long-running huacaya program with proven bloodlines and a hands-on, farm-based approach. The farm also operates a farm store and welcomes visitors for tours, making it one of the more accessible alpaca operations in the Duluth area.
