Free Radical Ranch

Free Radical Ranch raises both suri and huacaya alpacas on a diversified farm in Piner, Kentucky, situated in southern Kenton County just minutes from I-75 in the greater Cincinnati area. Jennifer Leigh Myka launched the ranch's alpaca program in 2012 after connecting with experienced breeders Liz and Tom Cooper, who were retiring from the breed and helped lay the foundation for the herd.

The program's suri lines trace back to Sierra Bonitas Maccoyo Monet, a nine-time national champion, and the herd today includes two of his descendants, War Valley's Salvador and War Valley's Mona Lisa. A huacaya alpaca rounds out the herd alongside the suris, giving visitors a side-by-side look at both fiber types on the same farm. Jennifer's background spans molecular genetics, biology, and fiber arts, and those interests shape how the ranch approaches animal selection and fiber quality.

Beyond breeding, the farm hosts educational events including guided tours and classes focused on raising alpacas and harvesting fiber. Fleece and fiber from the herd's suri and huacaya alpacas are available for those seeking Kentucky alpaca stock or fiber direct from the source.
