Five Daughters Farm
Five Daughters Farm raises huacaya alpacas in Esko, Minnesota, about 20 minutes southwest of Duluth. Jennifer and Jared Hegna started the farm in 2020 when the family relocated from the city to a 20-acre property to raise their five daughters alongside a small herd of animals.
The Hegnas sourced their founding animals from an established regional operation and benefit from property infrastructure that was previously maintained by an equine veterinarian. The farm is a member of the Great Lakes Alpaca Association, and the herd includes both foundation females and herdsires. Fiber quality is a noted focus — Jennifer has spoken publicly about evaluating crimp as a marker of fiber suitability for yarn production.
For anyone seeking alpacas for sale in Minnesota, Five Daughters Farm offers huacaya alpacas from a small, hands-on northern Minnesota program where the animals are raised as part of daily family farm life alongside chickens and a livestock guardian dog.
