Enchanted Hollow Alpacas

Enchanted Hollow Alpacas raises huacaya alpacas on its own land near Tremonton, in northern Utah's Box Elder County, roughly 30 miles west of Logan. Julee and Royce Savage started with just five alpacas and a focus on fleece production, but a visit to the National Alpaca Show in Denver turned the operation into something far more deliberate, and the herd has grown to more than 46 animals over a decade-plus of raising them.

Selective breeding has been central to how the program has developed. The Savages brought in a stud from Pamela Ray (Xanadu Champaign P Protocol), added a champion female from Irish Meadows, and acquired three modern rose grey bred females from Heart and Soul Alpacas — purchases they credit with reshaping the quality and direction of the whole herd.

Show performance has been a natural measure of that progress, with animals placing competitively at major national events.
