Dusty Road Alpacas raises huacaya alpacas on an eighty-acre ranch in Calhan, Colorado, situated on the high plains at roughly 6,700 feet elevation east of Colorado Springs. Mark and Cindy Choiniere established the ranch in 2017 after relocating from the East Coast, making the transition to first-time ranchers on Colorado's wind-swept eastern plains.

The program earned a top-five national ranking for medium-sized new breeders in the Alpaca Owners Association Hi Point competition, a recognition based on accumulated show results.
