Down Home Country Kennel LLC

Down Home Country Kennels, LLC raises schipperkes and rat terriers in Grovespring, Missouri, in the southeastern part of the state. Jerry and DeEtta Simmons own and operate the kennel on a large working farm that also runs a cow-and-calf operation across around 400 acres.

The kennel holds USDA and state licenses and is inspected annually by both AKC and a veterinarian. All schipperkes in the program are health tested and cleared for MPS IIIB, a hereditary storage disease relevant to the breed. Puppies receive a veterinary health certificate before leaving, and each adult dog is examined yearly for heart, respiratory, and orthopedic soundness.
