Double T Lofts

Double T Lofts has been breeding racing homers in Edmond, Oklahoma, just north of Oklahoma City, since the late 1990s, when the father-and-son team entered pigeon racing at a competitive level. The loft's roots go back further, though — the founder flew his first young bird racing season in 1962 and won a 300-mile club race that same year.

Around 1999, the program expanded its scope by acquiring foundation stock from some of the most respected lines in the sport. The cornerstone bird became Ariel, a Tournier/Janssen cross who earned the title of 1st National Ace of the One Day Long Distance Races of Holland in 1996. From that foundation, Double T Lofts developed its own Ariel-Tournier family, a line selected specifically for the combination of intelligence, speed, and toughness over long distances.

The results of that breeding work are documented in the loft's race record. A direct daughter of Ariel placed 5th in the Texas Center Hall of Fame Young Bird race in 2001, while more than 40 of Ariel's grandchildren and great-grandchildren have scored equal 1st placings for the loft. A key sire named Adam — a son of Ariel — has produced at least 23 winners, including a hen that won 1st and 2nd Texas Center Hall of Fame honors in back-to-back old bird seasons and a son registered as an Elite AU Champion.
