Dafi Alpacas

Dafi Alpacas raises huacaya and suri alpacas in Butler, Maryland, situated in northern Baltimore County about 35 minutes from downtown Baltimore. The name DAFI stands for Dorsey Animal and Fiber Industries, reflecting the full scope of the operation run by Tilly Dorsey.

Dating to 1993, DAFI Alpacas holds the distinction of being the first registered alpaca breeder in Maryland, and Tilly Dorsey is a founding member of the Maryland Alpaca Breeders Association (MABA). The herd, which numbers around sixteen animals, is composed primarily of huacayas with a smaller group of suris.

The farm's fiber program extends well beyond breeding. Fleece from the herd is processed into raw fleece, roving, and yarns custom spun in small batches, alongside hand-woven rugs and a line of alpaca garments and accessories.
