Cottonwood Farm

Cottonwood Farm, Scottish highland cattle in Vanceboro, NC, is situated in eastern North Carolina near New Bern. The farm has enrolled its herd in the American Highland Cattle Association and maintains regular veterinary screenings and hoof trimming schedules.

Animals graze on rotational pasture year-round and receive daily handling to support calm temperaments and positive early socialization. Calves nurse alongside their dams in spacious sheltered paddocks, promoting natural bonding and steady weight gain through the first months of life. During winter the cattle have access to barn loafing areas and supplemental hay grown on site to meet nutritional needs.

Cottonwood Farm follows sustainable grazing practices aimed at preserving soil health and genetic diversity within its small herd. Matt Jackson and Caroline Jackson oversee daily chores, share herd health updates with interested peers, and enter livestock shows to assess conformation and temperament.
