Converse Premium Labs

Converse Premium Labs raises Labrador retrievers just south of Wilmington, Ohio, in the southwestern corner of the state, roughly an hour from both Dayton and Columbus. Bryan Converse and his family have been involved with Labs for over 40 years, and the breeding program has been operating professionally since 2016.

The program holds AKC Bred With H.E.A.R.T. certification, and all dogs are AKC registered. Health testing includes DNA screening, OFA and PennHIP hip clearances, and cardiac certification. The program has placed Labrador retriever puppies with more than 450 families across the country.

The breeding stock includes dogs selected for multiple coat colors — yellow, black, chocolate, and fox red, along with a line of "white" labs tracing back six generations — sourced from kennels in Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, and within Ohio itself. Some dogs carry lineage from AKC champion lines, and second-generation dogs bred within the program are also part of the current breeding group. The program runs full time alongside an on-site boarding kennel housed in a climate-controlled, renovated horse barn.
