Cohaven Farm

Cohaven Farm, Leicester longwools, Gloucester, VA, Virginia's Middle Peninsula near Richmond. Cohaven Farm is run by Trenton Keener and has been breeding Leicester longwool sheep for more than 15 years with membership in the American Sheep Industry Association and routine health testing.

It focuses on pasture-based husbandry, ensuring lambs learn to graze alongside older sheep and spend nights in ventilated barns. The flock gains social enrichment through gentle handling, selective weaning and scheduled shearing that builds trust and keeps fleece quality high. Selective breeding prioritizes robust bone structure and dense fleece suited to the region’s wet coastal climate, reflecting the breed’s legacy in fine textiles.

A small family operation feel is maintained through hands-on care and a decade-long history on fertile loam soils. Visitors often remark on the calm temperament of the sheep and the coherence of a herd raised in open pastures.
