Climbing Stump Farm

Climbing Stump Farm raises registered Highland cattle in Harris, Minnesota, in the East Central part of the state roughly an hour north of the Twin Cities metro area. Mark and Randi Johnson own and operate the 156-acre property, which the family first acquired in 1978 and has expanded through adjacent parcels over the years.

The farm has deep roots as a working tree farm, with hardwood and pine stands that have been managed for lumber production for decades, and Highland cattle have since become a central part of its agricultural identity. Registered highlands for both breeding stock and beef are produced here, with cattle raised on pasture and hay, supplemented with soybean hulls.

Climbing Stump Farm is an active member of the North Central Highland Cattle Association, participating regularly in NCHCA production sales and placing cattle with farms across the country. The operation has also competed at national events, including a first-place finish in the Intermediate Yearling Bull division at the National Western Stock Show. Buyers looking for registered Highland cattle in Minnesota from a farm with a documented show and sale record will find a well-established program here.
