Cinco C's Alpacas

Cinco C's Alpacas has been raising huacaya alpacas on the family farm in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania since 2002, making it one of the longer-running alpaca operations in north-central PA. Christian and Carol Howard built the program around a colorful herd of AOA-registered animals, with a particular focus on black and grey genetics.

The herd's show record reflects that emphasis on color. In 2021, three of the farm's herdsires earned AOA National Color Champion banners, and the program's overall breeding decisions were recognized at the 2015 AOA Fleece Conference in Denver, where the farm received the AOA Classic Cup. Champion and ribbon-winning herdsires are paired with a foundation of proven females, and the resulting crias have gone on to compete — and win — at both regional and national shows.

Both Howard family members are active in the industry beyond the farm itself. Carol served on the Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (PAOBA) board of directors for eight years, including two years as president, and was re-elected to the PAOBA board in 2024. She also serves as chair of the Judge Training and Certification Committee for AOA. The farm holds memberships in AOA and PAOBA, and alpacas for sale in Pennsylvania from Cinco C's are AOA-registered and halter-trained at the time of sale.

The farm also hosts educational seminars and workshops covering husbandry, nutrition, fiber, and pasture management, drawing buyers and breeders alike to the property in McKean County, roughly an hour and a half southeast of Erie.
