Cathy Prodoehl
Hilltop Acres is a family-owned and -operated goat farm just south of Northfield, Minnesota, roughly 40 miles south of the Twin Cities. Cathy Prodoehl raises Nigerian dwarf goats with a dual focus on dairy production and show quality, making the program a source for dairy crosses and registered Nigerian dwarfs in southern Minnesota.
The herd is built on carefully selected lines that have produced strong milking and show results. Hilltop Acres participates in DHIR milk testing and Linear Appraisal, which helps objectively track both production and conformation across generations. The farm also competes regularly at shows, and animals from the herd have earned placements at regional fairs and classic shows in Minnesota.
Herd health is a consistent priority. The goats are tested annually for CAE, CL, and Johne's disease, and all kids leave the farm disbudded, tattooed, and with their first CD-T vaccination. Registered kids go home with paperwork. Kids stay with the farm for at least eight weeks to ensure they are healthy and eating independently before placement.
