Brit Ritchey has been raising Leicester longwool sheep for over a decade and holds active membership in the American Leicester Club. This small-scale operation keeps flock sizes manageable, allowing personalized care and close monitoring of breeding lines. The flock is subject to routine fecal egg counts, CD&T vaccinations, and regular hoof trimming.

Lambs are born in a weather-protected barn and move to rotational pasture after two weeks. Ewes and rams graze seasonally managed land and enjoy daily interaction with the family’s children to foster socialization. Each fleece is skirted on site and sent to a local cooperative of spinners and weavers in the New River region. A recent visitor noted the flock’s calm temperament and the wool’s lustrous sheen under natural light.
