Brighteye
Brighteye raises Bernese mountain dogs in Angel Fire, New Mexico, situated in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains about 40 miles south of the Colorado border and roughly an hour from Taos. The program is run by Glenn and Deborah Hotze, who bring more than four decades of experience training, raising, and showing Bernese mountain dogs after relocating from the Chicago suburbs to northern New Mexico.
The Hotzes have been active in AKC events throughout their tenure with the breed, and dogs from the Brighteye line have earned titles in conformation and performance competition at the national level. The dogs are home-raised and have access to the cool mountain air and open terrain that the high-elevation setting naturally provides.
For those searching for Bernese mountain dog breeders in New Mexico, Brighteye represents one of the longer-standing programs in the region, with a record in both the show ring and working dog venues.
