Bramley Mountain Farm
Bramley Mountain Farm raises belted Galloway cattle in Bovina Center, New York, a small farming community in the western Catskills, roughly an hour southwest of Albany. John and June Burns tend the herd across two Bovina farms, continuing a Burns family presence in the area that stretches back to 1802.
The cattle are raised from birth to harvest entirely on farm pastures, with a husbandry approach that excludes hormones, antibiotics, and animal byproducts. The herd grazes on grass through the growing season and is fed home-grown hay or baleage in winter. Beyond beef production, the farm also offers belted Galloway breeding stock and semen, making it a resource for others looking to establish or expand a beltie herd in New York and the surrounding region.
A portion of the herd is maintained at a second family farm, and the next generation — including Bob and Marie Burns's daughter Colleen and her family — has joined the operation, keeping multiple acres of Bovina farmland active in agriculture across three generations.
