Bossy Boots Ranch raises mini cows, including mini Highland, highpark and beltie cattle, in Elizabeth, CO, part of Elbert County and the Front Range near Denver. The ranch offers heifers and steers, both horned and polled, so buyers can choose animals that suit their own plans. It generally has two calving seasons each year, with spring and fall calves.
Along with cattle, Bossy Boots Ranch raises Dorper and Katahdin sheep and Colorado Mountain Dogs bred as livestock guardians for smaller acreage. The ranch also offers ranch visits and consultations for people at any stage of owning mini cows, from a first calf to a small herd or a new business. Its learning hub has articles about mini cows, sheep and dogs, with the stated goal of encouraging responsible ownership.
Cattle are social herd animals and usually do best with companions, steady routines and room to graze. The open country around Elizabeth gives small-acreage owners on Colorado's eastern plains room to start or grow a herd.
