Bormann Red Angus & Simmental has been raising red Angus cattle in Livermore, Iowa, a small farming community in north-central Iowa roughly an hour north of Fort Dodge, since 1971. Francis and Karol Bormann built the herd's foundation females from respected early Iowa sources, including lines from Earl Werling and Mid-America Cattle Company, along with Ankonian Dynamo daughters acquired when Ankony Angus dispersed its southern Iowa ranch.

The program has relied on artificial insemination for over five decades, selecting across red Angus, Simmental, and SimAngus genetics with an emphasis on what the Bormanns describe as balanced, real-world beef production traits. Animals are handled quietly, and complete performance records along with genomic EPDs are maintained for the cattle they offer.
