Blazing Star Ranch

Blazing Star Ranch, owned by Karen Champion, raises alpacas in Elizabeth, Colorado, roughly 45 miles southeast of Denver in the Elbert County foothills. The herd has grown from a modest start of two animals to around 60 alpacas of all ages, guided in its early years by mentors at a neighboring Elizabeth ranch.

The program has a strong show record, earning first-place and color champion titles in fleece and halter competitions at events including the AOA National Fleece Show and the National Western Stock Show. Fiber from individual animals in the herd is processed and made available as yarn, with each animal's name on the label so buyers know exactly whose fleece they are holding.
