Big Timber Alpacas, LLC raises both suri and huacaya alpacas on Parrett Mountain in Sherwood, Oregon, about 25 miles southwest of Portland. The farm is owned and operated by Kevin and Sue King, who over the past fourteen years have built a foundation herd centered on elite white and color genetics with a strong emphasis on measurable fiber quality.

The program is grounded in data-driven breeding decisions: fineness and uniformity are measured annually on every animal in the herd, and suri alpacas are independently evaluated through the Suri Network S.H.I.P. program. All alpacas are shorn each year — including suri juveniles — so that fiber trait progress can be accurately tracked season to season. Those efforts have translated into national show results, with Big Timber alpacas earning championships, judges' choice awards, and Advanced Fleece honors at top competitions. The farm has been recognized by the Alpaca Owners Association as a leading suri fleece producer in its size category.

Sue King has been active at the industry level as well, having served as President of the Suri Network, President of the Alpaca Association of Western Oregon, and on numerous national committees.
