Baldwin Family Farms

Baldwin Family Farms raises Katahdin sheep in Oil Springs, KY, Johnson County and Eastern Kentucky near Pikeville. Josh Baldwin and Rebecca Baldwin have been working with Katahdin sheep for several years and follow recommended herd-health protocols, including regular veterinary checkups and parasite monitoring.

The flock grazes on managed pastures supplemented by sheltered feeding in winter, and the Baldwins collaborate with local agronomists to maintain pasture quality. Lambs are socialized from birth, allowing them to develop calm temperaments and strong mothering instincts. The Baldwins keep detailed breeding records to prioritize structural soundness and maternal performance when selecting rams and ewes. Manure is composted on-site to enrich fields and support sustainable grazing.

As a family-operated farm, Baldwins focus on producing hardy breeding stock suited to smallholders and homesteaders. Visitors often remark on the uniformity of the sheep’s coats and the welcoming farm atmosphere.
