Ashland Labradors

Ashland Labradors has been breeding Labrador retrievers in Ashland City, Tennessee since 1984, making it one of the longer-running programs for Labrador retriever puppies in the Middle Tennessee area, roughly 30 minutes northwest of Nashville. Teresa Gordy-Brown founded and continues to operate the kennel with a focus on temperament, correct conformation, and health.

Every dog in the program is screened before breeding for hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, eye and heart diseases, and DNA tested for PRA, EIC, CNM, HNPK, and other preventable hereditary conditions. Dogs also earn titles across multiple venues — conformation, obedience, hunting tests, therapy work, search and rescue, and service work — before contributing to the breeding program. Ashland holds AKC Breeder of Merit status and is a member of the Labrador Retriever Club, Inc.

Litters are whelped and raised inside the home, with daily socialization from birth. Adult dogs live as indoor companions with access to several acres to run each day. The program also includes German shorthaired pointers alongside its Labrador retriever lines. Most puppies are placed into family and companion homes, with show prospects typically retained to carry the program forward.
