Arrowhead Acre Alpacas raises alpacas in Clarks Mills, PA, Mercer County and western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. James Stringert brings several years of hands-on experience and follows Alpaca Owners Association guidelines with routine health screenings and annual fiber sampling to ensure each animal’s well-being and fleece standards.

The herd primarily consists of huacaya alpacas in a palette of natural shades valued for their dense fleece and gentle temperaments. The herd lives on spacious pasture land with access to a sheltered barn during harsher weather. Pasture rotation and seasonal feeding plans, including mineral supplementation, help maintain soil health and vibrant fiber quality.

Daily hands-on handling and group turnout support social bonds, reduce stress, and encourage even fleece development. Fiber is sorted by density and staple length to match small-scale weavers’ needs and maintain consistency across batches. Temperaments are a priority, with gentle interactions from birth aimed at nurturing calm and confidence.
