Arcona Alpacas

Arcona Alpacas, Richard Wilder's suri alpaca farm in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, has spent over 13 years building a herd grounded in some of the most decorated genetics in the country. The farm sits west of Harrisburg in Cumberland County, making it a notable source of show-quality alpacas in central Pennsylvania.

The program's foundation traces to Accoyo Clara, a full Accoyo female who arrived with the last import into the United States in 1998 carrying a 14.5-micron fleece. Five of Clara's offspring took first place at the AOBA National Show, and two earned National color championships. Clara posthumously received the MAPACA Spirit of the Industry Award in 2015, and her hallmark traits — fine, brilliantly lustrous fleece and a calm temperament — were passed consistently through the herd.

The herd also carries Diamonte bloodlines and was built on foundation stock acquired from Pine Valley Suri Farm in Ohio, a program that earned the 2012 Small Breeder of the Year recognition. National champions Son's Revelation and Poseidon of Grace are among the animals connected to the Arcona breeding program. Throughout its history, the farm's goal has centered on refining fleece quality, conformation, and disposition across each generation, and the Wilders have expressed a commitment to mentoring new owners who take on animals from this line.
