Arapaho Rose Alpacas

Arapaho Rose Alpacas, run by Karen Kelly, has been raising alpacas in Redding, California since 2001. The farm sits in the northern Sacramento Valley, roughly 160 miles north of Sacramento, and draws buyers looking for alpacas for sale in California from across the region.

Breeding selections focus on improving fiber quality, conformation, and temperament with each generation, using Peruvian herdsire genetics as part of the program. The herd carries animals in a wide range of natural colors, and fiber quality is assessed closely — including microscopic evaluation of individual fleeces — to maintain consistent standards across the herd.

The farm competes regularly in halter and fleece shows sanctioned by the California Alpaca Breeders Association (CALPACA) and the Alpaca Owners Association (AOA), and the herd has earned placements in both conformation and fleece divisions over the years. Both huacaya and suri alpacas are represented.
