Alpenglow Alpacas

Alpenglow Alpacas raises huacaya alpacas on a small ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado, in the Wet Mountain Valley at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, roughly an hour south of Pueblo. Linnea Laurila has been raising alpacas since 1997 and established the ranch at its current home in 2007, with Curt Gillespie as her partner in the operation.

The farm's name reflects its focus on the naturally occurring colors of alpaca fleece, and fiber production sits at the heart of the program. Linnea's original draw to alpacas was the idea of following fiber from the animal all the way through to a finished garment, and that farm-to-product philosophy continues to shape the herd. Alpenglow specializes in huacaya alpacas, whose dense, crimpy fleece is suited to a wide range of handmade fiber goods, and all products crafted from the herd's fiber are made by hand on the farm.
