Alpenglow Alpacas
Alpenglow Alpacas raises alpacas in Westcliffe, CO, in Custer County and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Pueblo. Linnea Laurila and Curt Gillespie have been breeding alpacas for over a decade, maintain membership in the Alpaca Owners Association and ensure each animal receives regular health screenings and seasonal shearing.
The herd grazes on open pastures at 8,000 feet elevation, and daily attention to socialization and gentle handling fosters calm dispositions. The farm originated as a family pursuit of sustainable fiber production and now supports workshops on fleece preparation, breeding practices and on-farm visits. Their focus on sustainable feeding regimens and natural pasture management has led to fleece consistently noted for its density and softness.
Visitors are welcome to observe daily routines and learn about health protocols through guided tours that illustrate shepherding techniques cultivated by years of hands-on experience. The adult herd includes huacaya types selected for consistent fiber crimps and balanced temperaments, appealing to both show and hobby enthusiasts.
