Alpacas Of Nh At Sleeping Monk Farm
Alpacas of NH at Sleeping Monk Farm has been raising huacaya alpacas in New Ipswich, New Hampshire since 1998, making it one of the longer-running alpaca operations in the southern part of the state. Susanne and Robert Evon started the farm as a hobby with just two females and two cria, and the herd has grown considerably from those modest beginnings.
The farm sits in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, roughly 20 miles from Nashua, and is a member of the New England Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association. When selecting animals, the farm places particular emphasis on conformation alongside fleece traits including density, consistency, lingering fineness, brightness, coverage, staple length, and shearing weight — criteria the Evons apply across their entire breeding stock.
Those interested in alpacas for sale in New Hampshire will find that Sleeping Monk Farm also offers a mentorship program aimed at new and prospective owners. Susanne drew on a background in teaching to develop one-on-one guidance and clinics, and the farm participates in AOA youth programming as well. A farm store, opened in 2019, offers products made from the herd's own alpaca fiber alongside locally sourced wools.
