Alpacas of El Dorado raises both suri and huacaya alpacas on a ranch in Somerset, California, set in the Sierra Nevada foothills roughly midway between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. Scott and Laurie Findlay run the operation as a full-time, full-service ranch focused on the continual improvement of fiber quality across both alpaca types.

A landmark achievement came in 2020 when El Dorado Blue's Troublemaker earned a national championship in the invited champion class as a mature male, and the farm simultaneously took home the Classic Small Breeder Trophy at the national show.
