A Paca Fun Farm
A Paca Fun Farm raises alpacas on 25 acres at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson, Maryland, about 35 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. The farm has been home to the Padgett family — Neil, Jo, and Bari — since its founding in 1999, when it started with just five animals.
Over the years the herd has grown to roughly 150 head, encompassing both huacaya and suri alpacas in a full range of colors. Those looking for show-quality alpacas for sale in Maryland will find a program that has developed a national profile over more than two decades. The farm also operates a fiber arm, A Paca Fun Fiberworks, which draws on the herd's annual clip.
